4th Annual Rhode Island Student Service Summit

Funded by SERVE RI through the Scholarships for Service Program, Rhode Island Campus Compact hosts an annual statewide summit for college students from all member campuses.  Over 100 college students gather together to network, exchange ideas, and learn new skills.  The goal of RISSS is for students to inspire and learn from each other and community members and to realize the power of working together towards positive goals for community achievement and change.

We provide a unique experience for college students, where they can connect with other leaders on different campuses and share their innovative service ideas to make an impact in the community.

The students that attend this event are our future citizens and leaders of Rhode Island

Telling Our Story

Saturday, February 11 9AM-4PM
Roger Williams University
Bristol, RI

My Story.  Your Story. Our stories are inter-connected. By developing an ability to effectively share important perspectives, student citizens are better able to advocate, raise awareness and inspire others to take action. Join 100 college and university students for the only statewide student conference focused on leadership in community-based service. Summit participants will network with each other and experts in the non-profit/higher education fields and attend skills-building and breakout sessions.

Here’s a glimpse at the workshop topics designed to build your story-telling skills:

·      Advocate for Your Project on Campus and in The Community
·      Build a Resume That Highlights Your Service
·      Build Local Connections to a Global Story
·      Leave a Legacy for the Next Student Leader
·      Social Media is Mightier than the Sword (and the pen)
·      Techniques for Public Speaking and Active Listening
·      The Power of Personal Reflection
·      Unpacking Your Alternative Spring Break Story
·      Without Words- Storytelling through Art, Performance and Multimedia
